Medicare is a health insurance program for the people of age 65 and above, disabled individuals and for the children. New Mexico Medicare Plans mainly offer four types of Medicare coverage, Original Medicare that is Medicare Part A and Part B, Medigap or Medicare supplemental insurance, Medicare Part C which is also called as the Medicare Advantage plan and Medicare Part D otherwise called as a Prescription Drug program.
Medicare supplemental plan is a health insurance plan which is provided by the private insurance firms to cover the left out gaps by the Medicare Parts A and B coverage. It also helps in providing the co pays, deductibles and coinsurance coverage. Based on the individual’s enrollment, he/she may choose 10 to 12 distinct types of standard Medigap policies. There are different types of health insurance firms who provide these types of programs.
It provides hospital insurance. Part A covers hospice, inpatient care, proficient nursing care, and home care health under specific conditions.
It provides essential medical services like doctors’ services and outpatient care services. It also provides preventive care to maintain the status of health.
An individual can enroll in Part C plan instead of Medicare Parts A and B plan if he/she stays in the service area of the plan. This plan is provided by the private firms that are sanctioned by Medicare. Health plan choices consist of Preferred Provider Organizations and Private Fee-for-Service. This part still offers the coverage provided by the Medicare Parts A and B to the beneficiaries. Complete Original Medicare coverage will be obtained and most of the Medicare Part C plans offer Medicare Part D coverage.
This is a stand-alone plan provided by the private companies to the eligible elders with Medicare Part A or B or with Original Medicare. One of the objectives of the Medicare Part D is to decrease the prescription drug expenses. This plan can be added to the Medicare Parts A and B. Most of the Medicare Part C plans have the coverage of Part D. If not, to the Medicare Advantage coverage, Part D Medicare can be added.
