Indemnity Plans: A Great Way to Address Gap Costs

What is it?

Hospital Indemnity Insurance is designed to help fill some of the co-payments, deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses of your health insurance plan. Cash benefits are paid directly to you to help cover the costs associated with hospital confinement, ambulance trips, skilled nursing stays and more.

For example: Jack trips and injures his knee while hiking. Later he goes to his doctor and finds out he needs surgery to repair his knee. His doctor schedules surgery and Jack will be in the hospital 3 to 5 days. His Medicare Advantage plan hospital copays are $325 per day up to day 5, totaling $1625. His Hospital Indemnity plan covers those copays by cutting a check to Jack for $2100.00. With the extra money Jack can pay for gas, meals, or extra Rx he may need.

Why Do I need it?

Unexpected medical costs can add up—even if you have health insurance. Advantage Plus is an affordable way to help protect your savings from all the costs of deductibles, copays and additional expenses not covered by your major health insurance plan. Benefits are paid directly to you so you can use the funds any way you choose.

How does it work?

Should you be confined to a hospital, Advantage Plus will pay you between $100 and $600 per day based on the plan you select. You can choose a 3-day, 6-day, 10-day or 21-day benefit period, which will restore after 60 days of no hospital confinement.

$1500

The average length of a hospital stay is six days. If your insurance plan has a copay of $250 per day, one trip to the hospital could cost you $1,500.

60 Days

Some policy coverage will restore after 60 days of no hospital confinement. Some plans guarantee issue for ages 64 ½ to 65 ½ and a simple yes/no application for other ages. Coverage is guaranteed renewable for life as long as your premiums are paid on time.
